Fall Kickoff 2017

Oh it’s that Time Again

I would like to begin by saying THANK YOU!  So much has happened since my last update that I will do my best to SHOW you, to spare a ton of words that still wouldn’t be able to capture it all!

Pastoral Epistles Training at Hillview Bible Chapel in Cupertino, CA
In the weeks leading up to the start of this semester, our team flew out to California for a 6-day intensive look at Paul’s letters to Timothy and Titus. We were able to learn to study and teach the Word like never before from a veteran who is also a missionary. Being in the Word for 9 hours a day for five days straight will change you! I got to see the Golden Gate Bridge, the house from Full House, the garage Steve Jobs made the first Apple computer in and tour the Netflix HQ with our host Prem! Upon returning to Raleigh, we then attended a 4-Day NoPlaceLeft Missiology Training in partnership with the local seminary, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Needless to say, we were putting in the preparation for success this Fall 2017 semester!

The buzz of students out to view the Solar Eclipse (Top Middle), Our Weekly Outreach Table in the Student Center (Bottom Left), and a busy food court on campus (Bottom Right).

If you can’t tell, the harvest is PLENTIFUL here at NC. State and the Fall semester makes that apparent more than ever! It has been so awesome to see all the new faces and once again be a part of the energy/life that comes with the start of a new academic year! Two Tuesdays ago, in a matter of 3 hours I met face to face close to 500 students at a single Campus Connections event!

Welcome Week Connect Events

If you want to connect with students, you’ve got to be in front of them with something to do and free food helps! Every night from move-in to the completion of the first weeks of classes we put on for the students. Music, pancakes, inflatables, drinks, pizza, froyo, hamburgers, hotdogs, ice pops. We stayed active!
Even in the midst of a time that emphasizes getting awareness of our presence on campus out to as many people as possible and catching the HUGE wave of incoming students, it has been awesome to get into close to 40 gospel conversations! Please pray that God would work mightily to reveal Himself to Tate, Ben and Nathan!

SMASH Bros Party

One of the events that I was responsible for, The SMASH Bros Party was a blast! The event grew significantly from the one we hosted last spring. This time we had 49 people sign up for the tournament alone, two projector screens, 4 other systems, board games, it was hosted in a ballroom AND Marcos Pizza sponsored the event donating 30 large pizzas!

One of the awesome things about this event is that I am continuing to run into people I met on campus at it and some that came are still coming to our church to this day!

Grace at the Lake (GATL)

“Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.” (James 3:1)
It has been such a privilege to represent Christ and you my support team into this new school year! It is no small task to take the target Satan has put on my back as I step onto the spiritual battlefield each day to fight back against the kingdom of darkness. Please continue to intercede for me in your prayers!
Camp Chestnut Ridge in Efland, NC
This year’s second annual Grace at the Lake marked the end of an amazing collaboration of preparation and labor these first few weeks! We had about 14 first-timers this year, which is pretty awesome considering just a few years ago we had 1 at our beach retreat. Which happened to be me!

Chillin-n-Grillin with the Brodies’

And while they still did not believe it because of joy and amazement, he asked them, “Do you have anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish, and he took it and ate it in their presence. (Luke 24:41-43)
We followed Jesus’ example and had a hankering for some seafood!

As the festivities of the first few weeks have winded down and the dust has begun to settle, we have had a chance to come up for air! Myself, some current and future pastors and deacons had our own tailgate this past weekend.

It has been a true blessing to put our heads down and run hard in our Lord’s strength. God has shown up day by day, situation by situation for us throughout this semester kickoff. We are so grateful and in awe of His provision! Please join with us in praising Him for doing so, for the thousands of students we were able to meet and the relationships that have begun as a result!
